1. The Mathematics of Blade Forging (Compound EV)
Unlike standard attacks that deal fixed damage, The Regent's spectral blade attacks scale dynamically with your current Forge Level ($F$).
The Compound Blade Output Formula
Blade Damage = (Base + Forge Level * Hammer Modifier) * (1 + Star Power * 0.25)
Every point invested into Forging early in combat compounds across every subsequent blade strike played. If an encounter lasts 6 turns and you play an average of 2 blade cards per turn:
Immediate Strike (0 Forge)
12 plays $\times$ 8 base damage = 96 Total Damage.
Turn 1 Forge (+4 Forge Level)
12 plays $\times$ (8 + 4 $\times$ 2) = 192 Total Damage (+100% EV Gain).
This arithmetic demonstrates the fundamental Regent rule: sacrificing Turn 1 damage to establish Forge stacks delivers 200% to 300% greater total combat output by Turn 4.
2. Star Power: The Celestial Energy Bank
Star Power accumulates when excess block is converted or celestial cards like Starlight Alignment and Cosmic Surge resolve:
Tier 1: Minor Constellation (3–5 Stars)
Provides passive card draw (+1 per turn) and refunds 1 Energy upon playing expensive 2-cost forge abilities.
Tier 2: Radiant Conjunction (6–9 Stars)
Empowers all blade cards to strike all enemies simultaneously (AoE splash damage), trivializing multi-enemy Act 2 rooms.
Tier 3: Supernova Threshold (10+ Stars)
Unlocks the Supernova finisher: consumes all Stars to deal 18 * Stars damage, delivering an instant 180+ damage burst that bypasses enemy artifact barriers.
3. Drafting Pacing for Ascension 10+
The primary failure mode of novice Regent players is over-drafting Forge cards while ignoring frontloaded defensive tools:
- Act 1: You need immediate flat damage (Tempered Strike) and baseline guard to clear Gremlin Nob without taking 40 damage while forging.
- Act 2: Transition toward area-of-effect Star generators (Starlight Sweep) to handle summons and fast minion packs.
- Act 3: Consolidate your win-condition with Anvil Resonance and Celestial Sovereign to achieve infinite or high-tempo scaling against the final bosses.
4. Co-op Synergy & Interactive Calculators
In multiplayer expeditions, The Regent can forge weapons for teammates, passing enhanced blade buffs to the Silent (multiplying Shiv velocity) or bolstering the Ironclad's Strength multipliers.
